Youtube Video Clips that have helped me.

The video above helps me with the research of the culture of reggae music. It shows me what kind of mood the target audience has. Furthermore, the character that is presented in the video gives us a short song from the reggae legend 'Bob Marley', and the song shows the tourists in the video and the audience watching the attitudes and type of people reggae artists are. Also, the video establishes to the reader that one of the vital assets that comes with the reggae culture is actually the plant cannabis (weed), which has given me information that cannabis should be involved with my magazine in some aspects to make the magazine appealing to the target audience.

Moreover, the video shown above has also helped me a lot with the production of my magazine assignment. The video above is of a reggae themed concert by the name of 'unity' where they invite people from all over with different cultures and invite them to enjoy reggae music. The music that has been played in the video is very mellow and peaceful as you can see by the crowd swaying from left to right gently. The type of music reggae is actually symbolizes the Caribbean culture and the people that are from there. Furthermore, at specific moments in the video the camera zooms in on the instruments that are being used and played to accompany the reggae artist, which i felt was useful for my reggae magazine project because it allows me to know what kind of instruments i will involve in my images and other aspects.

Music Magazine Research

The Reggae magazine front cover above overall, I feel that it is quite effective in many ways. One reason for this is the actual colour scheme of the magazine. As I have stated above the colour scheme relates to the Rastafarian heritage. Also, as you can see the colour scheme has also had effect on the main image which will be very effective to the audience, due to the fact that the target audience would be able to instantly tell that the magazine will be to do with the genre reggae and the Caribbean culture. Furthermore, the main image used for the magazine front cover uses the technique called direct address which means that the image is looking directly towards the reader. This gives the effect to the reader that the magazine will speak out to them. Also, this makes the reader feel that the image used is actually interested in the audience and instead of looking away which would make him seem unfocused and un-interested. The strokes used for the mast head used make the font used for the mast head ‘RAGGA’ stand out from the main image and the background of the music magazine front cover. This is a good technique to use for a magazine because it doesn’t allow the mast head to become unseen by the colours of the other aspects in the music magazine.
